I was just given two brand new 5 gallon kegs that are complete with the "A" System valve. Spear removal requires unscrewing the top part while pushing down on the valve - which as far as I can tell requires a specialized tool. Looks like the one available from morebeer for standard sanke kegs will fit and/or can be modified to work. Can anyone confirm this? And for some of your input - what should I do with these kegs? Should I buy the spear removal tool ($80) and a keg connector ($80) and have a dedicated funky german tap in my kegerator, or should I scrap the idea of even using them as kegs as I could buy 4 reconditioned cornies for the price of the tools to use these kegs?

This.I have 2 pin locks that are only allowed in my house because they are 3 gallon kegs so I tolerate them. It would irritate the heck out of me to have to change out my fittings in addition to a keg each time one kicked. As is I will usually put 3 gallons in a 5 gallon corny rather than use the 3 gallon cornies i have.
