Hey all,I just wanted to pose a question to everyone who has had experience with Wyeast's Thames Valley yeast. I used it for an English Brown ale a few weeks ago, and the beer turned out great. I also bottle condition and it was ready for serious drinking after a week, and hit its prime after about three weeks. Now, I've made a stout with the slurry. It went into bottles on Friday (the 23rd) and I had one last night, this stout too is excellent! It seems to me that this yeast is quick to ferment, quick to condition and clear, and produces a fine flavor. I have tried other English yeasts such as 1028 London, 1318 London III, 1968 London ESB, and 1098 British and these yeasts just didn't "do it" for me. I have been amazed at how drinkable the beers from 1275 are; they are some of the beers I am most proud to have made...and both are session beers at 3.5 and 4%. Now, here's the question. How many people have experience with this yeast? How have your beers with this yeast turned out? Does this yeast represent a "true" English style yeast (because my experience has varied with English style yeasts).Discuss!

I'm a big fan of 1098 (Although I usually use WL007) and 1968 is mighty fine, as well. But I don't think I've used 1275 before, I recall seeing charts comparing it to WL023 Burton Ale yeast, but I'm not convinced that they correlate.

Supposedly they are both Brakspear but if that was true, I'm not sure why WL would call 023 Burton Ale yeast. In any case, I've heard good things about 1275 though I've not had a chance to try it myself. I have been to Henley-on-Thames and had Brakspear in some local pubs there (Angel Under the Bridge) and I can attest that it's a very good ale. So I'd expect the yeast to be top notch if it's the same one.
