Beer stone and burnt wort on the inside of the keggle.Yes it is. What type of stain or residue are you trying to clean?

which is it?I left my Better Bottles and a glass carboy soaking in Oxy (the majority of PBW is the same as oxy) while I went on vacation. They'll be in there about 10 days before I get back to drain them.I have salt/resin-softened water, though. If you have hard water don't leave Oxy or PBW soaking more than a couple days. It will cause a precipitate to form on the sides. This seems to happen especially with glass, where it looks like the glass is frosted. If that does happen, it's relatively easy to remove with vinegar, but it's a PITA.

I like your vinegar idea, but soap scares me.I wash my kettle as normal( normal dish washing soap),that gets most of the crud off. As far as beer stone,I use straight up white vinegar, maybe a cup or two. Let that sit for about 5 mins and just rub the areas where the beer stone is with your hand or sponge and it just comes right off no problems. This is pretty much the same thing that MTN said, seeing as the Star-San is an acid the same as vinegar. Vinegar is cheap and it works good and fast. JMO ,cheers
