Set up to brew an American Brown last night. I looked at the hops today and thought one addition looked like an awful lot. Remeasured it and I was off by 1.5oz. Realized I added an extra 1 oz of Simcoe and and extra 1.5 oz of Amarillo in my FWH addition measuring last night. Sparging now and realized I also put my 60 min addition in instead of the FWH addition. So I dumped it all in for FWH.12 gal post boil12# Am 2-row3 # flaked oats.5 # C-120.5 # aromatic.5 # Special B.5 oz Roasted Barley (capped/uncrushed).5 oz Carafa III (capped/uncrushed)FWH 4 oz Amarillo 7 AAFWH 4 oz Simcoe 12 AAGuess I've done worse...............Anticipated 1.058 OG, new IBUs 68 Posted Image

Done deal. In the fermenter. Hit my volume and gravity. At least it's FWH IBUs. Kinda curious how this one will turn out - I'm optimistic. Posted Image

That actually sounds quite interesting, and I'm interested to hear how it turns out.

Other than sweet how did the OG sample taste? Looks nice though I have to agree.

To tell the truth OG sample tastes about make me barf. Hoppy syrup, but I know a lot like to do this. So, dunno. I usually taste when kegging though. Did just that today during the boil when I kegged a black oatmeal ale - has a lot of promise. I've done a lot of FWH only beers and really am not too concerned. It may need a little more time in the keg conditioning to hit it's prime. If I wait that long........ Just one of those days that something needs to be done on the fly and right now............Which happens here all to often, or not often enough depending on how you look at it.Posted Image
