I've been dry-hopping the hell out of my beers lately and am really enjoying the results. The bright, clean aroma that comes out of my pint glass gives my beers an extra kick which is a nice introduction to the beer. A few threads ago, I had asked the board about your dry-hopping methods. I have found that just dry-hopping in the secondary is giving me the results I was looking for. I just toss the hops in my fermenter and then rack on top making sure that all the hops are soaking and exposed to the beer. I just racked a batch of Dogfather IPA into the secondary with an ounce of Columbus and an ounce of Simcoe. This is a combo I hadn't tried to before so I said, "what the hell, I've give it a try." That got me thinking about what other dry-hop combos that go good together...what's worked for everyone else?

When I do, which isn't that often, it's almost always amarillo or amarillo and columbus together.

I recently made an IIPA in which I used a combo of Apollo, Amarillo, Citra, and Glacier. Apollo and Amarillo are very very similar. This combo gave some very nice and different aromas and flavors; orange, citrus, floral, peach, tropical fruit, pineapple, resiny.I found that the Glaciers add that peach flavor/aroma, I find it very interesting, adding a new depth to your beer. Give it a try.

This sounds good, I'll pick some up next time I'm at the LHBS. Anyone dry-hopped with Citra yet?

I've only tried cascade and willy and cascade and magnum. Both were nice. I don't have enough dry hopping experience to really add much here.

Been brewing a rock solid Citra Hopped Pale ale since may brewed it 4x and used Citra in flavor and aroma. You can smell the beer from the table to your nose/mouth as you raise the glass. Amazing to me how awesome Citra is. If you DH with it I bet it would be a home run for sure. I will try to DH another of this beer when I brew it again. I have 10 gallons bubbling away right now and when you lift the lid of the chest freezer you can smell the citrus of the Citra. It rocks!!

Yep. it Rocks... Make a 3F Gumballhead using CITRA instead of Amarillo all the way through. A bit more Crisp but all around the nice change.Wemake 10G at a time and it never seems to last... :)

Maybe I'm the oddball, but I'm a huge fan of centennial for dry hopping. I think cascade is a bit overdone and I tend to shy away from cascade heavy beers because of it. I'll second the citra hops though. I'm just now getting to experiment with them and am really digging the unique grapefruit/lychee aroma they have.

You want to post that? I would love a crisp Gumballhead clone. I actually Dry hopped with Citra in a clone of Stone's Levitation. It came out crazy citrusy in the aroma and flavor (compared to the half I only dry hopped with Amarillo). It was kind of like biting the skin of a tangerine.
