Glad I took a tangent off that line.Anyway, your small sample still needs to be cooled for the refractometer to give an accurate reading. I watched one of our LHBS owners take a sample about a year ago, had a really thick metal container that would only hold a couple ml., but was a big heat sink. Kept in the fridge/freezer. So it would cool the sample quick - 1 sec - without evaporation. Slick, but I don't bother quite that much..... Usually get around 10 - 5 ml on a ss spoon and cool it on top of an ice cube for a few seconds.Still the ATC is for the instrument itself - not the sample. Just don't leave the refractometer in the sun.
