I have a 1.065 RyePA ready to keg. 1272 slurry was on about its' 5th reuse and I was a little leary of reusing it again. I decided to harvest a little and make a 2.5L starter with it. That sucker started in about 15 minutes and fermented out in less than 18 hours. Guess I wasted some canned wort.............

It seems to be that on the homebrewing level 5 seems to be the cutoff of what people like to do for reuse of yeast. Commercial breweries I have seen will go 10-15 at times. Last year I used 3522 7 times and it rocked solid every time consistant flavors too. At least you know now what to do the next time you reach 5x reuse.

Yeah, I know the big boys reuse much more than we do. I've always thought they probably have much better sanitation even though I think I'm pretty good at it. Plus I'm not buying yeast to pitch in a 10bbl fermenter - would be nice though - I'll ask the wife again........ And I was a little concerned that the OG on that batch may have been a bit much for the yeast. Still, it was fun to see it take off and finish that fast.
