Newb here....both posting and brewing. So, at brewclub the other night - which was held at a local drinkery - we checked out the Randall they had set up, which provides an excellent hop shot. A discussion ensued about adding a Randall-type setup on a kegerator. The concern here is, in a home setting beer in would sit on the hops for such a long time it would strip all the hoppy goodness out pretty quick. So my thought was use a french press when a hop blast is needed....anybody ever tried this? results?

With all those nucleation sites on the french press I would be afraid that that it would really effect the carbonation level, but hey, it's worth a shot

I hear the best way to pour through a Randall on a home based set up is into a pitcher anyhow due to foaming issues. Use the french press like a pitcher, and skip the Randall build altogether. Brilliant!-Dubs

Its not a bad idea though. I bet the filter-press thing could be modified easily to reduce the nucleation sites.
