Just an FYI for the community ....I made a keg washer following Sam Scott's design (ALEiens Home Brew club): https://www.aleiens....-and-keg-washer . I purchased the same pump, a Wayne SSCDU790 1/3HP 3360GPH. Today I washed two kegs for the first time, a Cornelius Co. Super Champion and a Spartenburg Challenger VI.The bottom of the Cornelius Super Champion was scratched up by the pickup tube. This is the style of keg where the pickup tube is curved and sits in the middle where a small 1" indent is. The pickup tube will wobble if you put something in there and try to move it. The pickup tube is tightened down securely by the out post, so it's not from a loose connection. I think the pressure of the water coming into the pickup tube cause it to wobble around pretty good, causing the scratching. I put a strong Starsan solution in the keg, I'm not sure if this type of acid will help passivate steel like Nitric acid does.I'll keep and eye on this keg and see if any rusting issues arise with the scratches. If any problems arise I'll be sure to report back. The good news is the the Spartenburg VI had no issues. The pickup tube in this style keg goes straight down the side.Anyone else get keg scratches from their automated keg washers? Any rust issues or problems?Cheers,DT

I do not believe starsan will repassivate the stainless. I know barkeeper's friend will though. I think it has oxalic acid, which reppassivates. So go with a sponge, and clean up the bottom, and you should be fine in no time at all.The only thing I can think of to help with your problem, is to slightly twist the copper so that it doesn't go straight up, but curves just slightly. This should still be able to clean the whole keg, but hopefully puts less pressure onto the dip tube area.
