Almost forgot and had to go back to the office - used the postage meter to postmark it May 1. Anybody else hoping to get tickets? Never been but have heard great reports.

I haven't been in a few years, but I sent in a request this year. Last time I went I had a buddy in the brew club there and we helped setup the night before....got us in free and drinking an hour before the massive crowd....good times.

Go every year. WE get a bus, so tickets are usually given to buses first. We have our 40 or so tickets and the bus is already filled with people! It really is a great event. The only bad thing is .... TOO MANY BEERS! I can't drink a sample of every one and walk back to the bus. :)

I totally forgot about this! Went previously and had a complete blast. Had plenty of brews I've never tasted. Impressed by several and 'meh' on several as well.

Having lived in Madison (before my exile to NorCal) for 9 years and having attended this event, I can officially confirm that this event is a BLAST! A bit of advice... Madison in August tends to be hot with high humidity. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the event any your body will thank you (although it ends early enough that you can "shake things off" and get going again later in the evening). The last time I went I wore my camelback filled with water... no headache... no hangover!God I wish I could go!

Congrats dude! Hit The Angelic (downtown) or Capital Brewery (out in Middleton) *after* the event... seeing how it ends around 5:00ish.{wishes the Family Reunion was around the same time and not 6 weeks before!}

Thanks! if anyone has more tips on where to stay (shuttles to the event and good places to check out since we'll probably get in Friday sometime) I would appreciate it. We've never been to Madison, guess this will be the OOT event for us this year instead of GABF.

There are a couple of hotels about 1/4 mile from Olin Turville Park (the site of the event)... One of them is the Sheraton. It's on the 700 block of John Nolen Drive. There is another hotel right next to it... I would suggest calling tonigh and booking a room. Parking at the Festival is a bitch. We used to have someone drop us off and pick us up at the Sheraton. I've stayed there... decent hotel. If you want to stay downtown, there are a number of hotels, but I would suggest staying at the Sheraton. If it's too pricey, ask them what the place next door is. Let them know you have a friend that used to live in Madison and recommended staying in that area. If I can find/remember the name of the hotel, I'll let you know.If you are going to be arriving Friday night, you want to go to the Farmers Market on the Square for breakfast Satrday morning. It's the nations largest farmers market and you want to get a loaf of Stella's Spicy Cheese Bread. Best $6.00 you will spend on carbs, other than beer. Don't remember if you can take food in with you, but a loaf of Stella's would be awesome.PM me if you want more info. I'll give you my personal e-mail address and I can try and get you more info.
