I am fermenting a belgian blond OG 1.068 with t-58. Pitched yesterday into 66 deg wort, My house thermostat is set at 65 deg, but for giggles I checked the room temp today with a digital thermo and got 69 deg, a little warmer than I wanted. When I checked the stick on fermometer it is reading between 76 and 78! Not sure of the accuracy differential, but it is saying I am fermenting 8 degrees hotter than ambient. I always thought the difference to be 2-3 degrees maybe 4, but 8 seems like a lot. My 3rd time using this yeast, and I started my other ferments at 63 to keep esters down, I havent tried any of these beers yet, and didnt think to check the temps, room felt cool enough.
T-58 ferment crazy hot?
