They are very helpful, nice people. Their selection of products in general suit me fine for the most part, although I really haven't compared them to anything else. What I really hate, though, is that their receipts are old school. It doesn't show what costs what. It's just a long list of quantity x price followed by the total. I do NOT think they are hustling me, but I like to see where my costs are going, ya know?

I'm assuming you were over on Nieman. I'm sure they would be glad to point out which was what on your ticket. But I agree........

Yeah, that's the one. There's no need for them to point each one out, I'm not questioning whether the total is right. I keep a spreadsheet of all my costs, and although not itemized, I like to at least keep track of what costs what. For instance, today I bought grain, small amount of hops, yeast, and a bucket fermenter. Should I start harvesting the yeast? Buy a mill so I can buy grain in bulk? I have no idea. I like the store, and really like the people. I'm a very novice brewer and they always help me out a lot. I just wish the receipts were modern. Relatively speaking, it's a small gripe, but wonder if others are in a similar situation

I don't think I've been to an HBS that had anything but that type of receipt. Doesn't really bother me. I throw it out when I get home either way.

My local has a detailed print out with item name, inventory number, quanity, line total, CLUB DISCOUNT and then grand total. I like this because I can save the receipts all year and then total up my expenditures at the end of the year.

My LHBS prints and gives you a receipt that shows each item by name and what the cost are which is cool with me. The only problem I have is its expensive. I hate that a lb of say Carafa II is $2.25 at LHBS an online I can get it for $.50 cheaper. Definitely need to get an online speciality grain by going but the LHBS does give detailed receipts, I can see your gripe though too.
