I was looking up a recipe that I have over at Beertools. In the header there was an ad for Wholesalehops.com. I never heard of them before.Holy cow, their prices beat even the pricing from Hops Direct.Anyone order from them before?

Shipping aside, HopsDirect beats these prices for the ones that I am familiar with. Prices per lb for pellets:Cluster: 12.50 vs 6.75Liberty: 12.25 vs 9.75Centennial: 13.75 vs 10.75Chinook: 12.75 vs 9.75Galena: 12:00 vs 9.75Willamette: 10.75 vs 6.75Amarillo 14.25 vs 11.25 (but you can't get them at HD).

I don't think the prices are all that plus they don't have the selection that HD does.

Last time I ordered from Hops Direct, it took over 2 weeks to get the order here. I was not that happy with the shipping rate either.I think they charged me something like 8.00 to ship a pound of Magnum whole leaf across the country.

I've only ordered hops in bulk once and they were from HD. Either my scale is off or they put in an extra ounce or so in all five pounds. Anyway, I'm happy with them and will probably stick with them until they give me a reason not to.If you try wholesalehops, let us know. There's nothing wrong with going with someone else, they might be good distributors too.

That could well be. I didn't compare shipping at all. Like KSU said, if you try them, let us know. Alternatives are never a bad thing.

My last order was slow getting here. Around $10 for shipping 3 lbs. I think the more you order the better shipping costs are from them.

assuming a 1.5 lbs package that's not bad for a 3000 mile shipment via UPS

My order should be here in about a week. 7lbs of hops for $12 shipping.

I've bought twice from HopsDirect. They charge the actual USPS shipping. The first pound is always the most expensive. Go on-line to USPS and check what it costs to send a 2 lb package to you from HopsDirect (remember the box has weight and they round up to the next pound). I think it would be about $8 or $9 for me to get a pound. My 2 orders were for 7 and 8 lbs, shipping was between $13 and $14 both times. Each time I ended up with an extra pound of hops. Overall for the two orders, I think my average cost per ounce was $0.62, or a little less than $10/lb (and that includes shipping).Shipping both times was between a week and 10 days. I will order from them again.
