I had a good keg go empty tonight. Little tear here. The replacement was so good I'm going to feel very bad tomorrow. I put this in the fermenter 11-5-2008. Posted ImageA wheat / Rye mix beer with Duvel bottle dregs. This is Home Brew at it's best. Have you had experienced it yet?

What are your recipes for the Duvel and Orval clones and how close do you get to the real thing?

When I first started competing I was winning a lot of medals with my APA. When I got down to a couple of bottles I decided to pop one and see what all the fuss was about. Wow....even after being bottled for 4-5 months at this point, the hop aroma was huge. The beer itself was fantastic and I kinda felt bad that I had sent most off for competitions....but on the bright side, I did win a lot of ribbons with it

Are you propagating the Duvel Dregs, or are you just collecting it from several bottles?

Sorry no recipes for Duvel or Orval. I was just after the taste of the yeast and the dryness. I like making Farm house type Saisons. Just happy to have one turn out worth bragging about. Most of them turn out good to barely drinkable. I'm going to cork some of this one for later consumption. Each yeast was stepped up from a single bottle. Stir plates are great.
