Ok, so I might have screwed up. I brewed denny's rye IPA last weekend and I am supposed to dry hop 1oz of columbus. Me being a complete noob didn't think too hard about when you are supposed to dry hop. So after I put the yeast in the carboy, I took the hop bag out of the starsan solution and added the hops then put it in the carboy. So dry hops have been in there during fermentation. For some reason I just got the bright idea to check and see how long I should dry hop for, and I read that you dry hop AFTER fermentation is over. So, what should I expect to be the consequences of my stupidity?Cheers,Rich

should be no problem at all. there are hops in there during the fermentation anyway right? you added hops at 60, 30 , 10 or whatever. to get the desired affect, get 1oz or 2oz of what you were going to dry hop and add that in next week. will just smell hoppier!

It will just be a little bit less hoppy than if you had done it in secondary. Not a major disaster.

Good. I was hoping that it wouldn't be to bad. I think I'm concentrating on getting all my steps right so much on brew day that the other stuff is not computing, so I mess up a little.Cheers,Rich

Not a big problem. If you have more Columbus, add 1/2 to 1 oz in dry hop now. If no Columbus, you can always sub some other "C" hop. (But don't tell Denny  )

I've known a couple of guys that add some fresh whole hops into bottles at the time of bottling. I haven't tried one yet, but I will probably give that shot one of these days.

The vigorous fermentation activity will actually strip away much of the aroma... better just to see how its doing after the primary portion of the fermentation to determine how much more hops are needed for dry hopping.
