This place is a pizza beer joint in Mobile (also a joint in Pensacola). To say I don't expect much, beerwise, when I go to the Southeast is an understatement. Hopjack's was a very pleasant surprise. I purposefully booked a hotel within walking distance because of the reviews I read beforehand. It didn't disappoint. The selection was very good, ~35 taps, about 50 bottles from what I could tell. The prices are ridiculously good. The most expensive pint is $8, which includes some pretty hellacious Belgians, BWs, IIPAs etc. My pint of Moylan's Hopsickle was only $7. It would probably be $9.50 for 6 oz in Boston. The menu was pretty short, but had some interesting looking stuff. I got the Black and Blue pizza. In a technical sense, it wasn't the most amazing pizza ever, but the flavor/ingredient combination was awesome. A pizza with filet mignon, maytag blue cheese and sauteed red onions. It tasted freaking spectacular. My big nitpick on Hopjack's was that they served teh beer ice cold in frozen glasses. I had to wait for it to warm up to drink it. Not surprising in Alabama, but that would practically put it out of business in many places.Anyway, my rating:For Alabama, 9.5/10For everywhere else, 7.5/10

I ran into this problem in Orlando a couple of months ago. For a while I would ask for a warm glass but then I got tired of doing that and just ordered Yuengling which isn't as offensive in a frosted glass IMO.

I was just going over my expense report from Mobile and I saw the receipt from Hopjacks. It was $23 for a filet mignon pizza and two pints of awesome beer. Quite a value. I'd expect to pay nearly twice that in Boston.
