Holy Herr Hiller's neighbor! Talk about some dank and resiny aroma. I think I'm getting a contact buzz just smelling this thing. My first all Summit beer. Not bad IIPA though, I really like the orange-citrusy flavor that accompanies that dankness. Can't even tell its a 10% ABV beer either. Damn drinkable. If you have been able to get your hands on a can, what do you think?

Wow, I just tried my first can of this. Quite possibly the best beer I've ever tasted. A hop lover's dream.

I loved that last 4-pack so much, I had go get me another. Really, really weird...while I perceived citrus, orange, and resiny grapefruit in the hop flavor and aroma last time, this time I get overwhelming...ONION! I don't know if this due to variation in batches, or storage conditions, beer age, or if it is just a condition of shifting palate on my part. This stuff seems like someone poured a tin of onion powder into the beer. I was reading that Gubna uses Summit hops exclusively. Doing some searching, I find that some people detect strong citrus from Summit, and some people get onions. Now I've detected both from the same beer, at different times. I don't know what to think.

Sounds to me like you need to give yourself a pat on the back honestly!! I love Summit myself. Its listed as having a strong citrus flavor to it in descriptions. I have also heard many people complain and say that it taste like onion too. I think its all in what you like and can tolerate. Simcoe is a great hop but people complain of a "Cat Piss" character too. I need to find some Gubna myself and my buddy has some recently too hopefully I get to try it as well. I wanna get a lb of Summit to brew again with too. Wish HopsDirect sold them. Anyways Cheers sounds like you are enjoying the beer.

I'm right with you. Seems like the onion smellers mostly hated it; I smelled the onion, but still like it. Give me a pliny or hopslam, though.

I'm going backpacking next week. Oskar Blues had become a staple on my backpacking trips. I just saw that they had Gubna at a liquor store down the road. I think I'll pick some up for the hiking trip (and some Ten Fidy, of course).

Sounds like a couple of fine choices to me. Its pretty amazing and darn cool to see so many microbreweries starting to put their beer in cans. I really like the idea and think its very practical such as you described above. I can't wait to see how popular it becomes as it keeps gaining popularity and I know I will plan to follow suit when I get to that point in my brewery as well. Enjoy the hike and the brews!!

I used to buy 6-pks of bottles then transfer them to empty 20 oz. water bottles. It worked well, but if I can get something great in cans, why bother?

I bought a some Gubna for my hike this weekend. $15.99/4pk. Probably the last time I buy this stuff. It better be damn good for $4 per can.

It really was good, but I've never had a beer in my life that I'd pay $4/can on anything close to a regular basis. This isn't even one I'd shell out that much for on a special occasion. I think $10-$12 is about my limit that I would allow myself to pay for a 4-pk without questioning the value of what I was getting. Craft beer prices are getting pretty close to my value threshold on the whole. It won't be long before we're paying $10+ a 6-pack for run of the mill craft brews.

If you get it at the lyons brewpub it's cheaper than $4/12oz. I don't remember exactly what it was, but theres an AHA discount too.

I have liked all of the Oscar Blues beer I have tried, but I really have a hard time understanding why they are so expenisve. There are equally good and better brands out there that are less than half the price.
