I know these are typically a lager/Pils hop but I wanted to hear peoples experiences with them in Ales.

Just used them for the first time last weekend in a blonde ale. I threw in 2 ounces (2.83% AAU each) at 5 minutes to go in the boil. Should leave my blonde with a spicy aroma! Which in real life...would be a red flag :P

I like them in my belgian ales, I think their spicyness complements the spicy yeast notes.

Oberon clone is next on my list, actually. I need to harvest the yeast from the real thing though. Does anyone happen to have this strain?

I really wish I could get them out here...may just have to ship them back when I go out to Chicago in a month...or just use WLP 001

I had two ounces it took me forever to use, used in a pale ale i do beleive. It was ok, i need to make a lager and/or pilsner before i can properly judge this hop. The Oberon i know uses it, hardly can drink the stuff and don't need five gallons or so of it. So that option was out.

I really like it. I think I used it in what I'm drinking right now, a brown oatmeal ale made with a kolsch yeast.

Lovely in all Belgian Ale and lawnmower beers, I haven't played with it anything that doesn't allow its subtleties to come through, a classic hop.

that's what I wanted to hear...i am gonna have to look that upchecked out there webiste https://realalebrewi...beer_styles.php does mention the Saaz but doesn't say for sure if that is all they use just "Czech Saaz hops provide a crisp finish and delicate aroma."

Has anyone bought or brewed using the current US Saaz that Hopsdirect carries. I bought a pound of the US Saaz and am planning to do a Pils but now reading this thread it sounds like you gave me more ideas on how to use it.

I will ask around. They could have well changed when hops went all scarce and all. If you get your hands on one you will definitely agree that the flavor and aroma are saaz, which is the point, I think. Great beer and great brewery, they are probably not distributed very far a way though.
