The message I get from Charlie is, "Homebrewing is fun." NOT "Look at me, I know alot about homebrewing!"Charlie's a great guy. I knew his nephew also through a homebrew forum. One time at NHC, just after I was elected to the GC, I saw Charlie and his nephew together. I walked over to say hi, and the nephew said to him "This guy knows more about homebrewing than you do!" I turned bright red, Charlie just laughed and smiled....

Agreed. That was needed in the dark early days of homebrewing because it sure looked hard. His message was don't stress out, it's not that hard, look even a dumbass like me can do it. That message brought a lot of people into the hobby and with more homebrewers, we quickly got access to a better selection of ingredients, particularly hops and yeast. But his material was never the most technical content. For that we had Miller (then), Palmer (now) and also Fix, Noonan, etc.The message I get from Charlie is, "Homebrewing is fun." NOT "Look at me, I know alot about homebrewing!"
