I know, I KNOW!! I used to be one like you that just told everyone to always use a blowoff every time and avoid this. But I just got lazy the last few batches and threw an airlock on it. Not like setting up a blowoff tube is very difficult, but still.Dude, why not just use a blowoff tube every time?? Those stupid cheasy airlock things are dumb! Just use the same stopper and run a tube out of it into a beer bottle and there go with a cheap solution! BAW!

You talking about fermcapS? I've seen that, but been a little cautious about it as I don't much like putting anything in my fermenters except the yeast. Especially something out of an eye dropper. I'm probably paranoid though. But after this, I'd be willing to give it a shot. Does it really 'eliminate' the foaming completely and also not affect the head later on from carbonation?FTFY

It doesn't eliminate foaming completely but it takes it down to prob not over an inch. It has been discussed that it can actually help head retention because a lot of the compounds that help head retention get lost in a blowoff or on the side of the carboy in the krausen...I sue it with all my batches and have great head. You talking about fermcapS? DBS and MMH both answered pretty much as I would have. A krausen still forms but very rarely threatens the top of the carboy. Also, MMH's temp. control comment is spot on.You talking about fermcapS?
