I haven't paid yet and am not sure of the quality. but what a deal. I hope that I am not buying $136 of firewood. Here is the ebay item number: 200446079356here is his store: https://stores.ebay.com/universalacthe appears to be a mostly decent ebayer but with some unsatisfied customers.I'll let you all know how it goes.

The only thing i don't like about these sized of barrels is that it doesn't take long to get a oak bomb which is not a good thing. Larger barrels will allow slow permeation of the oak flavors which then will give you a more complex oak flavor such as vanilla and coconut. Maybe someone that uses them often can speak up.

checked out the link...must fight urge to suggest Blktre order a belly dancing dress...Be sure to update this thread when it comes in and what precisely you intend to do with it. I'd be too nervous to put the fruits of my labor into wood... but I know its done all the time.

I know this observation could be because of my proximity to Kentucky and Tennessee, but that (total) price seems a tad high to me. Heck I, can scoot up to KY and get a full sized bourbon barrel for 100 bucks. Yea yea, gas, time, blah, blah. My knee-jerk was that it was a little pricey though.

It is about convenience. I can go into a grocery store and pickup a 2liter of soda for $1.49, but that 1 liter in the checkout aisle is $1.29.This is about the average price for these, and the guys on HBT run a group buy quite frequently.https://www.homebrew...oup-buy-164804/

Do not waste your money on one of these. Barrel arrived covered with varnish. Stinks of varnish on the inside. When I shine a light inside you can see where glue has oozed out from in between each stave. Also the heads of the barrel seem to have been made out of moldy wood. The ad stated that this was toasted as well, but there is no evidence of any toasting. However the barrel does look nice and SWMBO has decided she likes the way it looks in our living room. I am considering turning it into some sort of jockey box. I have contacted the seller and asked what he used to seal the barrel. I intend on leaving feedback as soon as he responds.
