I usually use a little irish moss in my ales to try and clear it up a little. Im currently boiling a batch of Quiet Storm Stout and was wondering if I should use the stuff. Will it take away from the mouthfeel? Any opinions?

I always do, whirlfloc anyway, even stouts benefit from clarity, IMO.

I use supermoss, and it goes in with my yeast nutrient for every beer, just routine, but why not?

Only thing I don't use coagulants in are weizens.

To reinforce what others have said, use it. Cloudy/hazy stouts look murky and muddy, not good.

I guess I am in the minority here, I don't add it to any of my stouts. I just don't look for clarity when it comes to this style of beer, but that may be just me.

thanks for your input. i used it, mainly cuz i always do. dont fix what isnt broke, right? i now have 5.5 gals of stout in primary. never did get around to kegging the flat ass tired that ive had in secondary for about a month now. theres always next weekend.
