Imma go canadian on your asses...4.5kg Pale 2-Row450g Rye Malt400g Munich Malt250g CaraPils150g Cascade (6% AA) FWH30g Northern Brewer (6.5% AA) FWH60g Cascade Dry HopFerment with US-05/1056/WLP001OG 1.052FG 1.010Mash at 148-150 df to dry this sucker out, it allows the hop character to be a real beacon in this despite only having like 40 IBUs or whatever. This is a nice balanced, balanced towards the hops, but balanced brew with a nice orange hue and a creamy, lasting head with beautiful lace. At a month and a half in bottle this stuff has hit it's prime and it isn't going to last - DAMN!In the future I might sub out half the AAUs of cascade for centennial and split the dry hop cascade/cents but for now if you like that cascade flavour then this is for you.

Looks good. I made a RyePA a while back, but it had too many other specialty grains going on to really pick out the rye characteristics. I may go your route the next go around.

yeah there is a slightly spicy, almost rough side to the rye that gives a little zing to this. It's clean enough that you can really taste each component and the carapils gives just enough body to fill it out.The best part about this brew is a few minutes after you finish a glass this cloying bitterness attacks your tongue making you CRAVE just one more sip :):rolf: imma go pour another!

Imma go canadian on your asses...

Is that a threat? That is sort of like getting charged by the french on a battlefield. :)

Earthtone. I think you need to post in lbs and ounces on this board. Not sure on those Canadian measurements. Ha looks good, hope it turns out. Rye is a nice ingredient but can get muddled as well too.

Imma go canadian on your asses...Mash at 148-150 df

You missed that one detail...Looks like a good recipe. I got shut down on the rye earlier this year when my wife discovered she's allergic to rye and buckwheat. fortunately she has no issues with barley or wheat! If you get the chance try it with NB and Simcoe hops sometime. I love that combo.

yeah I like the hops quantities as they are, but I might try it with a little more NB, and little simcoe...I wanna try it with cents/cascade/NB as mentioned above but the grain bill is delightful. Though I brewed this to my taste, it's interesting - it doesn't end up being too intense in the IBUs and a couple people have tried it and really liked it who think they are being brave trying Alexander Keith's IPA... not hop heads IOW.That said, the all FWH addition was an experiment and I like it so much it stays! It's got enough bitterness and flavour and aroma IMHO.
