This was getting me a little PO'd last night. Tons of foam from every tap, it had been a pain on Sat but last night was almost undrinkable. Had to pour two and let them settle. Of course they were warm by the time the head settled too. Even worse tonight. Then I remembered that I bumped the GFI outlet that goes to the kegerator while brewing last Friday......... I have three GFIs in a row for the 120v stuff in the basement brewery. Yup, it's been off since I hit the test button Friday.........Posted Image Posted Image No wonder it was warm. And since I put off bottling entries for our club comp until the last minute yesterday it didn't get done because of the foam issues......Posted Image Posted Image Oh, well that gives the others a chancePosted Image

Only my second year in competitions and I need to plan better next year. I brewed a ton in December when I had the time. I had 2 kegs that I wanted to get entry bottles from. I bled a pint from each to get whatever yeast settled and moved them to the garage to chill for the day. 10:00pm it was 31 degrees in the garage and expected outside temp dropping near zero. Fearing the kegs freezing I moved them back to the basement and 1/2 hour later tried to bottle. Well it was foam everywhere and just a mess. I put two in the fermentation fridge for overnight and bottled two in the morning and then two the next day. Got some foaming but not too bad. I just hope the carbonation in them is at least close enough to not ruin them. Next year I'm planning my comp beer in November, brewing in December and bottling at least a 6 pack of each beer. Then in February I'll sample to make sure all is good and enter the ones I like. Our competition will accept carb cap bottles. I think I may gather a collection of soda bottles next year as an alternative. I want to find out from some of the judges if they mentally deduct points from a beer submitted in a soda bottle.
