Tell me what you think. I got this book from my gf's mom and thought I might try something out of it. This is for a 5 gallon batch, but I may do a 10 gallon.10# canadian 2 row pale ale malt1# roasted barley5 ounces black patent malt1 1/8# flake barley1 1/8# steel cut oats2 oz willamette leaf hops 5.5% AA, 60 minutesirish mossWyeast 1028 london ale yeastI would need to substitue whole hops for pellets and I also don't have a water profile, so there will have to be some inherent risk.
Got this stout recipe from a book

I would do a multi step infussion mash. and add a good Protien rest.the Oats gel up and plug the mash screen or false bottom. thus a stuck sparge. other than that depending on the style of Stout You may add some Choclate maltand a bit of Coffee.and RDWHAHB.....

Sounds above my brew level. I've only done one AG batch before.I would do a multi step infussion mash. and add a good Protien rest. the Oats gel up and plug the mash screen or false bottom. thus a stuck sparge. other than that depending on the style of Stout You may add some Choclate malt and a bit of Coffee. and RDWHAHB.....

I'll always recommend my simple stout recipe, in the recipe forum, but I would also say if you do this one, don't worry about a step mash or protein rest. I regularly used up to 2.2 lb of flaked barley/flaked oats in a brew and have never had a stuck sparge with my SS braid manifold.
