Welcome to the blue board and welcome to Portland too!!Hey guys,I see a bunch of familiar names around here. Let me re-introduce myself. My name is Kyle, originally from Upstate NY. I used to post on brewboard often. I've been m.i.a. for the past few years while I worked in the finger lakes wine industry. Well, I'm back! I just moved across the country to Portland, OR to hopefully pursue a career in the alcohol production business whether it be beer, wine, mead or spirits. I sold all of my equipment when I moved and am now starting over from scratch, which is fun but frustrating. I make plenty of styles of fermentables but I try and focus on Pinot Noir for wine and Belgian & Extreme ales for beer. Can't resist making IPA's all the time either I look forward to meeting new people around here and reconnecting with old members. Anyone from the Pacific Northwest be sure to hit me up. Cheers and happy brewing,- Kyle

Hey Alan, I spent the last few years in and around Alfred, Geneseo and Hammondsport NY. I worked at Bully Hill Vineyards for a while doing tastings and tours before leaving for a head vintner position at an eco-resort called Pollywogg Hollër. Have you heard of it? https://www.pollywoggholler.com/ Unfortunately, they lost their license to serve their own alcohol this past winter, so it was time to move on. Great little place though and it's BYOB until they get it sorted out. If you ever get a chance, check it out. It's in Belmont NY, not too far from Rochester. And if you frequent the NY wine trails, be sure to hit up Keuka lake... specifically MacGregors and Ravines. Best pinot in NY, and the Black Russian Red made by MacGregors may be the finest wine ever produced in the state. Maybe we can get a bottle swap going - KyleHey Kyle,What winery did you work at in the Finger Lakes? I'm live in Rochester and frequent the wineries when I can. Welcome fellow past brewboarder!Cheers!Alan

I'm a member of Oregon Brew Crew. Meets at FH Steinbarts unless it's an out meeting. Seem to be some good guys brewing there, but if you join watch out for their listserve, it gets bitchy quick. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. And a big "heyo" to my fellow northwesterners. Are you guys members of any local brewclubs? Got any info on events, tastings or competitions? I'm looking to get active in the local scene.

I picked up some literature from Steinbarts last time I was in and was planning on attending the next meeting. Come say hello to the new guy (that would be me) if you'll be there. I was also planning on competing in the "Portland Cheers to Belgian Beers" contest that Wyeast & OBG are putting on at Hopworks. Have you heard about that one?I'm a member of Oregon Brew Crew.
