I am heating up my strike water as I type. Going to brew an IPA today. Columbus Hops and Amarillo as well. Pils Vienna and some Victory malt in the grain bill. My JPA ran out last night so its time to bring back some IPA. I kegged a Maibock last night and will transfer my German ALT to lager later today as well. Have a great weekend everyone, happy brewing!!Mike

Bamberg/Northern Brewer SMaSH tomorrow. I'm not shooting for a true Rauchbier style. This will be a fairly hoppy ale.

No, unfortunately. I need to get back to it soon. The baby came in October, that slowed me down, but I'm ready to go again.

Change of recipe plans. I thought that I could just waltz into my LHBS and buy 30# of Bamberg smoked malt. Wrong! I bought out one shop (7.5#) and the other one didn't have any at all. So much for the SMaSH brew. I picked up 20# Pils malt instead.

Got a dubbel lined up for tomorrow morning. Racking some stuff, building on the bar, and making a showing of working in the garden. Getting tired just thinking about it!

Ten gallons of porter today...It's a split batch and I'm thinking of adding a little vanilla extract to half. The extract has always worked better for me than beans.

Kegged a dry stout and an APA. I also brewed a starter beer (1044) to build up the abbey ale ii yeast. I am with that other thread, I don't like Belgians but I like this yeast. It reminds me of a Hennepin type beer.
