I was just browsing the Jan/FEB BYO magazine and say the back page ad of Wyeast for the next private collection strains. I am really excited as the Pacman Yeast from Rogue is going to be out. I have read many good reviews of this yeast and will be getting a couple/few packs and brewing up a storm with it too. Anyone here use it before? Here are the rest. The 3655 looks interesting to me as I have a lot of Franco Belges Pilsner around as well. I am planning to brew more English beers so who knows maybe I will give the Thames a run too. Here is the list in case anyone is interested. I heard from my LHBS owner last week too that Wyeast is planning to really cater to the homebrew crowd in 2010. Anyone hear anymore information about that or what they might have planned for the coming year? Some places sell pacman year round. I'm not sure what the deal is with this yeast. In order for those places to be able to sell it they have to carry some specific recipe kits I think, there's all this weird proprietary stuff surrounding its sale.

Chuck,I know what you mean. I think I recall seeing Austin Homebrew selling the yeast but I think it will be nice to go to the LHBS and get some too. I am not one for shipping yeast especially here in the Southeast. I know Pacman was out through Wyeast sometime before. I never knew about it back then. I have heard of those kits too.

Yup it can be had year round at certain stores. I don't know what conditions they have to meet to do it but I know my LHBS has it year round. It's also $10 a smack pack where as the rest are $6.99

I used Pacman a few times when it was around last time. I didn't think it was anything special - might as well used 1056.
