My best friend (after Vagus) has asked me to join a 5th ed D&D campaign.  Problem is that the last time I played D&D was in the 80's. I've played other tabletop RPGs in the intervening years, but I'm very far out of the groove on D&D.

Does anybody know of a resource to prep me for the upgrade?  Something a bit more concise than reading the whole Player's Handbook?

You could dip your toe in with a full runthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 like a man. Then get into the specific mechanics.

Played our first game on Sunday. It was great fun. I'm playing a kobold monk. Two feet tall and will kick your ass. :D

Playing with Beyond on a PC in front of you is amazingly useful.

It's different being a grown up with money.  I just buy what I want - nice dice, a Heroforge figurine, yesterday a dice tower.

"Hi, my name is George and i spent real USD on my kobold rage build that Vagus came in and stepped on. He said he's sorry but I think he is not being totally genuine."

I missed this post.  We just played our 101st session of Dungeon of the Mad Mage tonight.  My group has been running this campaign since May 2020.  I am a 17th level Swashbuckler Rogue.  We are entering a lich's lair next session.  We mopped up all the minions outside tonight.

Wow, that's impressive! I ended up dropping my group/Mad Mage game because we couldn't stay on task. After over a year we were still just leaving the third level lol

We finished this campaign a couple weeks ago in the middle of lvl 19.  Nobody had anything significant left to get at lvl 20 since we'd all multi-classed.

During the last battle as a 15th Monk (Way of Four Elements) / 4th fighter (Battle Master) rocking a Growth potion and a Hunter's Mark (from a tattoo) I did 204 points of electrical damage in the second round.

Attack (doubled with Action Surge, w/ a critical hit)

5D10+28

5D10 (Fangs of Fire Snake damage for 4 Ki)

5D4 (Growth)

5D6 (Hunter's Mark)

5D8 (Superiority Dice)

Bonus Action Fury of Blows

2D10+14

2D10 (Fangs of Fire Snake damage for 2 Ki)

2D4 (Growth)

2D6 (Hunter's Mark)

Total

14D10 + 5D8 + 7D6 + 7D4 + 42

This coming Sunday we start anew in the world of the Wheel of Time. I made an Accepted from the White Tower.  The others are a fighter, a bard and two Artificers (fireworks and clockwork).  I can't wait.
