16 lb US 2-row

0.5 lb carared

0.5 lb carafoam

2oz Zappa @ 10

2oz Zappa @ 0

3oz Zappa @ hopstand

ferment on diamond lager

probably dry hop with more Zappa in primary

IBU only about 10 because I've heard this hop imparts a much higher perception of bitterness than you might expect.  if anyone has any thoughts I'd be interested in hearing them though.

Kegging onto some dry hops today. 4.5-5oz of Zappa per 5 gallons.

Curious to see how intense this addition will be.

I'll let you know. I anticipate there will be a period of rapid change so make sure to check back in after initial reports.

Initial impression is it's intense but I'm basically drinking straight hop material.

so kind of interesting.  pre-dry hopping there was some fruit but a fairly intense burning tire taste.  that faded.

now that I'm dry hopping (day 2) all of these flavors are here but it's more fruit and very subtle burning tire.  I really only recognize it as burning tire b/c I already tasted it once.  with this balance I like it!   I'll see if my second pint tastes different.  this pint had many hours of settling so I'm probably drinking a good amount of hop material.

the roughness of this hop kind of reminds me of heady topper in some ways.  the light burnt tire almost has a roast quality to it when it's at a low enough level.

okay, second pint tastes great.  this is def a hop you can use on it's own because it has so much going on flavor wise.

So in general this is getting much less intense in all ways. Not bad or anything but I dunno.... Just sort of there.

Settling into a place I'm enjoying. Interesting flavor. Very enjoyable after a long day of hiking.

Drinking this for the first time in a few weeks. It's nice and clear now. The hop flavor is at a perfect refreshing level. These hops do have some odd stuff going on, particularly early on. But now it's kind of tropical fruit, followed by honeydew melon, followed by a faint hint of herb like flavor. Maybe a little minty? It's hard to tell because it's really in the background.
