I hear you want plank with at least a 12mil wear layer and 20mm thick if you can swing it.

My question is, should I go with the 20mil wear later over 12 for my downstairs? And how about total thickness, I figure more is better, but what is the best bang for the buck?

Nake is gonna be your guy in the vinyl flooring. I put down the engineered hardwood and LOVED it. Based on that experience, I would definitely say that the thicker the flooring the better overall "feel" when one is walking on it. I would think with thinner flooring you might feel more of the subfloor imperfections and what not.

Always get the most bang for your buck. If you can swing it?

Can you swing it?!
