I just saw this for the first time today... Alec Baldwin's wife has been pretending to be "Spanish" for some reason.  She goes by Hilaria Baldwin and speaks with a faint spanish accent and tells everyone that she came from Spain and her family still lives there.  But no, her name is Hillary Newman (or something) and she was born in Massachusetts.  But the part that doesn't make sense is that some time ago she posted videos of herself on The Gram talking normally, introducing herself as "Hillary" and saying she grew up around Boston.  WTF.  Occasionally we talk about mental health in the PH but how does someone just pretend they're someone else especially when THERE ARE ALREADY PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHO YOU ARE!?!?!   It's Hilaria!!

Ohh yeah, this is a thing. She was heavily roasted on social media like a year or two ago over this.

She was on a cooking show and pretended to forget the English word for something

Howard Stern went crazy over that and roasted the shit out of her. What's funny is he's buddies with Baldwin...

I wasn't sure if this was new or old and I also wasn't sure if it was brought up here.  I'm really not sure what to say about it.  To attempt to trick the public that you're someone else entirely... this has to be a mental health issue, right?  I wish I was Spanish!

There was a video of her on a show or in an interview where she's got the accent.  She even pretended to not know English like... The other day I was out... uh, you know... how you say... jogging? as if she was searching for the word because she spoke spanish.  WTF.

She should leave Alec Baldwin and hang with George Santos.

Here's the fake Spanish accent.  Remember she's from Boston.  According to Stain this is old news.  I mentioned this the other night at bowling and the guys were pretty much indifferent about it but they said they had never heard about it.

Thank goodness these are all fake Spanish accents and she doesn't have any real ones in the chamber.

Yeah, the phantom ethnic background controversy has been around for a while. I am thinking it predates the gun discharge story.

I do not know how anybody was harmed by Hillary's subterfuge.

I went to college with a guy who had dual citizenship between great Britain and the USA. He had a standard Midwestern accent. When I went to his wedding their were a lot of Brits. He suddenly had a British accent when talking to them. We had never heard his British accent. I was talking to his uncle who was equally amazed with his American accent which he never heard. when we talked to my friend after the wedding he said it was just natural and he didn't actively talk about it.

We were not completely surprised. His young sister also attended school with us only had a British accent. She spent a lot more time in England

According to Mrs Toon, I slide in and out of a Texan accent if I’m talking to relatives on the phone.

I do the same.  i've had a southern accent for a long time, largely stays hidden, but slides out now and again often because of the people i'm around.

My wife has a cousin who grew up in central NY, but escaped and moved to the UK.  He has been there like 15yrs now.  Has a wife and two kids.  He is basically permanent there.

Whenever he comes back to the states to visit and we meet up with him, his accent is hilarious.  He has both a British accent and a central-NY accent.  I can hear both in his voice.  It's clear that his accent is neither fully British, or fully central NY anymore.  It's a weird hybrid of both

With as many Indian engineers as I interact with on a daily basis I'm surprised I don't have an accent but that would be hilarious though.
