Have we talked about these?

I just pulled the trigger on one from Zuck. VR had kind of been a dream of mine since childhood, but I've been waiting for them to get good enough and for my PC to be strong enough. I think we're finally there.

It comes with Beat Saber. Any other favorite games?

I have the Quest 2. Probably 80% of my usage is VZfit which interfaces with a stationary bike, I spend probably 3 hours a week on that.

Otherwise you should definitely check out The Climb and The Climb 2.

Walkabout Mini Golf is fun if you're into that.

Another favorite is SuperHot. It looks cheesy at first glance, but it's really, really fun.

I read an investment article recently about VR being used in nursing facilities with good results. "Grandma always wanted to go to Paris" Now she can! I think VR and the metaverse are good things when used in moderation and with a goal of positive results. The nursing home application, for isolation, I think, is a good one.

Well, this thing is sheer joy.

I bought a Star Wars game, and having a Star destroyer come up over your ship is super cool. When Lord Vader walks up to you, it's genuinely intimidating. He's so tall! I leaned backwards.

Any update on these VR headsets?  I am finding myself getting into DCS more and more, steep learning curve for me though.   I was checking into either getting a VR headset or IR tracking to improve, and hopefully simplify my experience.  Anyone recommend any particular brand or model?

Smoothtrack is a free app that connects your smartphone to your computer to track your face/eye position. It works surprisingly well. Give it a try.

I don't need my face position tracked.

We are going to need to completely kit you out with sensors. Biomechanical, pulse, O2 levels, pupil dilation, jaw movements, etc. It's all going to get used by my team for the horse fighting simulator experience we are creating.

Anyone tried using AITrack or OpenTrack with standard webcam?  It seems to work, but definitely needs some fine tuning.

FacetrackNoIR seems to work a little better than the others.  Still fine tuning though.

I finally had a few minutes this week to try out my g2 that I bought for 299 a while back. Played the first bit of half-life alyx.

Kind of shocking how intuitive it is. You can just reach and grab like a photo from a bulletin board and turn it around in your hand basically like you would in real life.

One thing I had no idea about is that you can't focus them like you can with binoculars or whatever. If you're myopic, you need to wear your corrective lenses. I stopped contacts a few years ago, so I just have glasses. I have one pair that kind of fits, but makes it uncomfortable.

I found out that you can buy prescription inserts. Just ordered some for $40. We'll see how this works.

I used the prescription lens inserts on my Oculus before I got my eyes lasered. They worked very well for me and I had a pretty strong prescription (-5.5)
