I'd always wanted to figure out a way to use more canned salmon (we mostly use it for salmon cakes). We try to eat fish once a week and that's affordable/sustainable/quick.

I think I ran across this website when I was looking for tips on smoking trout.

https://honest-food....se-salmon-rice/

We did it the easy way and used dashi mix. I recommend just using about 2-4 tsp of sesame oil unless you love strong sesame flavors. Use about a tablespoon of rice wine vinegar to brighten it up. Don't bother with the sake - drink some with it if you like it but flavors are too subtle to come through.

We always have everything for this around. Quick and easy weeknight meal. Obviously if you have salmon scraps around like he mentions, even better.

I'm presuming that you meant this for the recipe group, not the hot spot.

I could see this becoming an alternative version of spaghetti carbonara in our house - an easy homemade meal for which you always have everything on hand. Good for Friday night. The kids inhaled this and asked to have it again.

I make this a fair amount, but I generally put raw salmon in with the rice to cook.  The salmon flavors the water and the rice as it cooks.

It’s literally the same as carbonara. At least in the PH
