This is for cold side use so I really want to get it clean.

First I soaked it in hot water, dish soap and oxiclean.  then I wiped down the outside with a paper towel and run hot water through it to rinse.  now I'm boiling it in some oxiclean solution (no dish soap this time).  then I'll rinse again and right before use I'll boil in just water (no oxiclean or anything).  does this seem sufficient to get any oils/stuff off there?

That's a whole lot more then I do. Sounds more than sufficient.

Sounds like a good regimen for something you pulled out of the sewer.

Otherwise, make sure it's clear of soil inside and out, soak in PBW, rinse, and sanitize with either a soak or spray using your sanitizer of choice.

I find new silicone always feels like it has a kind of dusty/powdery substance on it.
