Should I just be looking at xbox controllers?  Something else?  and if xbox are there certain models that folks like?

Just acquired the free Madden so assuming it runs reasonably well on my "okay" gaming PC I'll probably pick up a controller with some analog joysticks to make the game playable.  Reading the reviews the keyboard/mouse option doesn't work for games like this.

I use a plain old Xbox controller. Works great. Although apparently the PS5 controller also works with PC, I haven't tried it yet but I should, it's a better controller.

daim, these controllers are pricey.  $100+???

I tried to get my switch pro controllers to work one time but no dice.

Damn. I didn't know they were so expensive. I got mine a long time ago and it was definitely not that much back then!

maybe not all of them are.  is this a "standard" xbox controller?  I might have been looking at some nicer pro controllers or something.  I don't have an xbox so I know nothing about these.

powerA is one of the main 3rd party ones.  We have one of their switch controllers, and while the A button is starting to get sticky, it's solid.

Mouse and keyboard.

apparently not great for madden 22.  first I need to make sure this game can run reasonably well on my PC.

okay, that failed.  my googling tells me the switch pro controller only work reliably with steam games.

I went with this one.  seems to work just fine.  madden 22 also seems to run smoothly but I have no idea what the graphics settings are at right now.

might be nicer than the $35 one I bought but I felt confident something that was intended for xbox would work on my windows PC with nearly any game I threw at it.  my switch pro controller apparently works with steam games but not with others.  I didn't want to risk support issues.
