if I had to it'd be an american stout made with good pils malt a clean lager yeast and dry hopped with an american noble hop just enough...

So, Baltic Porter?

not nearly so cloying, more like.... a black pils? but with a bit of citrus from the american varietal, juuuust a bit

Got it.  The Baltic Porter I get around here most of the time is not that cloying so really enjoyable.

The BP recipe I did twice was definitely not cloying. I'm not a sweet guy for beer, and it's definitely not sweet.

An underappreciated style.  Carnegie style can be interesting too.

I believe that was Mando's recipe and I believe that one is based on Framinghammer from Jack's Abby which is the beer I was thinking of.
