I want to start doing this a lot. Shores galores around here and I have been wanting to get back into fishing. Can I get some recommendations on reading and gear? I would love to catch some fish for dinner

I remember this video but I think I should scale up before I start drone shopping

Ya, I just think it’s a really cool and innovative use of drone tech. Helluva lot cheaper than charters and boat ownership

It’s definitely very cool. A lot of the ocean beaches here don’t all drones I guess too. The beach I was at this weekend on Fire Island had a bunch of signs about it

My salt water setup is a cheap penn combo with 20-30lb braid with a 1oz egg weight or similar. I tie a swivel to the end of the braid, then 1-3ft of fluorocarbon leader material to a 1-1/0 circle hook with a live or dead shrimp. That keeps me busy enough to catch a sunburn at least.

Check your local laws.  Using a drone for hunting and fishing is illegal here.  I think its similar to plane scouting, as in your can fly it, but cant hunt it for 24 hours.

I have always want to go surf fishing.  Since I used to fish the rivers for sturgeon a lot, I already have a lot of the heavy gear.   Take pics if you go.

you must really love fishing!  you couldn't live much further from the ocean than KS.  how often do you get out there to do it?

I do. As a kid it was an inexpensive hobby that I shared with my grandfather. My parents (in-laws) lived in florida for awhile and that's pretty much how I spent my time down there when we'd visit. Between our cottage in the UP and our semiannual trips to colorado we get a good amount of fishing time in. Unfortunately I don't do much fishing here in Kansas due to lack of free time.

Last fishing trip to Florida, landed a 40" snook with a broken hand. Sorry about the watermark, not mine.

Thanks dude! I'm a nintendo dork and that hat has helped me catch some fish over the years. That snook was too big to keep. On that trip we caught plenty but ended up keeping just a few specks for dinner.
