Since his statement about not playing anywhere that Vaccinations cards are required, people bringing out all his past sins. I had no idea about the 1976 racist tirade on stage.

And, in tonight's news, Eric Clapton is still an asshole.

Oh man you never heard that before? Pretty ugly. He apologized for it saying that he was in a bad spot with drugs and booze but it always seemed to me to be just lip service. He definitely went off the deep end with Drunk Uncle Van Morrison during covid

Wow I never knew this about Clapton. I guess once the kid died that was a better story to focus on. I don’t believe people make racist comments when they’re in a bad place. Bullshit.

The amount in that tirade is no mental typo because I’m high. People can change, but holy shit I’m not sure I’m the big enough person to give the benefit of the doubt. I will just not purchase anything with his name on it. I have always enjoyed Van Morrison while understanding he is a level 8 douchebag, he seems to have turned it to level 11 since covid…. but nothing reaching the level of the Clapton tirade… that I know of?

Racist tirades are not politics. I have tuned out the Covid looniness.

Somehow, I don't see you owning the Dixie Chicks anthology. :)

FTR: I don't own any Nugent music. Not because of his politics but, because he's a draft dodging, hypocritical, pedophile.

I'm joking about the Ben and Jerry's thread.

I do listen to the Chicks, actually. Not the new, angry stuff, but the oldies sure.

I've seen clapton twice. Once solo (Billy Preston was playing with him!) and once with Winwood. I've seen WInwood about a dozen times over the years both solo and traffic efforts, but the Clapton show was epic. I'm just talking about the music of course. Clapton has always been a bit of a #### up. He made a shitty drug addict, band made, life partner, parent, you name it, the dude blows at everything except when he has a guitar in his hands.

Guy spent most of his adult life putting assorted drugs in his body.  But now, a vaccine is over the line.

I think a reference to the 70's when people were ####ing everyone and everything, including teenage girls. Most of those guys weren't much more than teenagers themselves at the time so I don't think "pedophile" (which is a mental disorder) is the apt description. No more than calling Robert Plant or Jimmy Page or Hendrix a pedophile.

Or, Rob Lowe.  Who picked up an underage chick at a bar.

Yep. Times have changed a lot even since I was a kid. Back then everyone knew what the term jailbait meant and now I don't think that type of language would fly since it implies sexual assault. So our views on age of consent has changed a lot since the 70's. This was a little surprising:

While the general ages of consent are now set between 16 and 18 in all U.S. states, the age of consent has widely varied across the country in the past. In 1880, the ages of consent were set at 10 or 12 in most states, with the exception of Delaware where it was 7.[104] The ages of consent were raised across the U.S. during the late 19th century and the early 20th century.[105][106] By 1920, 26 states had an age of consent at 16, 21 states had an age of consent at 18, and one state (Georgia) had an age of consent at 14.[104] Small adjustments to these laws occurred after 1920. The last 2 states to raise its age of general consent from under 16 to 16 or higher were Georgia, which raised the age of consent from 14 to 16 in 1995,[107] and Hawaii, which changed it from 14 to 16 in 2001
