drez - watch your inbox in case yakima valley doesn't e-mail me the hot deals!

so next week is going to be hot as balls.  I read some stuff online that tells me the hops would be fine if they were properly purged of O2.  is that the general view of the folks around here too?

Amarillo $12/#

APAs, wheats and oatmeal PAs.  I lost my taste for super malty melanoidin brews several years ago.  I rarely get over  6  SRM anymore unless I do the occasional porter or stout.  The last beer I kegged a couple days ago was 20% masa, 2-row and cascades...........

Thankfully, I'm good on Amarillo. I have 8# of hops currently enroute. I'm glad I wasn't forced to buy more.

I think the Amarillo IS the Friday sale. So probably nothing more coming. I think I might wait until Sunday to place an order to hopefully avoid the absolute hottest early part of next week.

What is the grain bill like for the oatmeal PAs?

around 14% oatmeal, 78% 2-row and 8% light brown sugar for a SG around 1.050

You really like stuff light I guess! I usually only resort to sugar for high gravity stuff to keep it from seeming as heavy.

Brown sugar adds a little bit IMO.  I've used white a few times and don't like it.  I think it adds a little molasses character

I'm guessing it does since that's what brown sugar is (white sugar + molasses).  I doubt I'd be able to nail down how much though since I usually use it in something that already has some of those general flavor profiles anyway.

any idea if it's worth going from USPS medium flat rate box to fedex home delivery for less than a dollar more on shipping?

I usually just do USPS and it is here in two days. For a dollar tho I may go FedEx just for security over a dreaded USPS delay.

Yeah, it's literally just which one is better. The price is so close to the same I'm not worried.
