It's a good beer, I like it a lot. Not that great of an Alt though.

Had it when my friend was out in Seattle area working and really liked the stuff(even went on a trip to the brewery to try it fresh up there). Did what I could to get it back to the east coast. Had it again at GABF this year and it seemed different to us. Not as much body as before. Still a good beer but I think my pallet has changed over the years. J, did you have that sent to you? No way you found it out this way.

I don't find it to be like an alt at all, and IMO only mediocre overall.

Then maybe you can tell *us* whether it's a really good alt.

It is not what I think of as an Alt.I find it to be a dry-grainy kind of brown-pale ale beer.zymot

I haven't had any "real" Alts, so I don't have an very good frame of reference. I had an Alt at a brewpub near where I live that does a lot of german beers, it was maltier and more bitter than the Alaskan Amber. I definitely expected more bitterness out of the Alaskan beer and it's not as dry as I expected.drez, I'm out in Cali right now, they had it at the supermarket.

Looks like a good time to stock up on stuff not out here!

I can't judge it as an alt, but it is a great beer. The neighbors brought me back a bottle from Alaska once. Then, IIRC, I posted something on the old board about liking it and someone sent me some more. Now I've lost track of who it was, but whomever it was, thanks again!

I picked up some Uerige Sticke Alt at a liquor store in Orlando (Knightly's, if anyone cares...the guy at the counter was super knowledgable about the beers). I'm looking forward to drinking it tonight. Unfortunately, it's over a year old (date on the bottle is 10/08). I'm sure it won't be the freshest beer, but at least it will give me a little bit better idea of the classic interpretation.

Keep in mind too J that this sticke alt is stronger and hoppier than a regular alt. I also have a uerige sticke alt at home that I'm waiting to open up...

Yup, I would have liked to get the standard version but all they had was the sticke and doppelsticke. I'm bad at waiting to try beer. I'll probably drink that tonight.
