Just found out the Church I do contract IT work for is going ahead with their annual International Missions Conference. So, starting Saturday and ending Monday, all of the missionaries they support from 24 different countries, including South Africa and Brazil, will be at the church eating, drinking coffee, chatting, lecturing and most likely singing together. Good Lort! I sure hope the network stays up, cuz I ain't going anywhere near that place until Wednesday at the earliest!

In better news, I'm scheduled for my first jab Monday morning.

Are they all going to isolate for 2 weeks (or whatever the recommended time is) after they arrive here before the conference?

Why bother? God will protect them, or do whatever.

Just scheduled my first shot for next Thursday with the VA.  Not sure why I'm eligible so soon, they just texted me to come get it.

The MA Gov announced today that concert/performance/sports venues will open in limited capacity in the next few weeks.

Glad to see this.  A lot of people in that industry are chomping to get back to work.

I have a tickets to a concert on May 1 that has been rescheduled twice... hoping to get to go this time

Vahalla called and said, "Don't send us the guy who's complaining about stone chimneys."  Front of the line to survive.

Moderna is testing an update, that process should give us a bead on how we will deal with breakthrough variants. Suspect 6 month boosters for a number of years.

I was in a State of COVID meeting that suggested that even if it is less effective, it’s likely still a good vaccine for all the known varieties

I’ll post a link to call in the next few days if I can

Looks like cases were about flat from last week but Texas was under reporting by about ~7000/day last week when SHTF so it's still down when considering that anomaly.  The rate of decline has dropped considerably, though.  Form ~25% per week to may 10%.  Still 10%/week isn't bad if the trend keeps up.

For those who don't like math...:)

From July to September last year, after the peak of the summer spike, the average weekly decline was about 8% (vs 18% per week recently).  If the decline continues at 8% per week we'll go under 50k/day (7 day avg) on 3/27, under 40k/day on 4/16, under 30k/day on 5/30, under 20k/day on 6/12, under 10k on 8/8.

Hopefully the vaccines will accelerate the drop and prevent another spike from flaming up.

Our 7 day average here has been dropping 10-15 % each week for the last 4 weeks.

100 per day this last week, lowest since before Thanksgiving.
