I couldn't get into it. Never figured out why.

Accept every side quest and roam/explore the open world until you find a string of quests that interests you enough to follow the bread crumbs
I’ve played hundreds of hours with multiple character builds and have yet to complete the main quest

If you only stick to the main story lines you are missing a whole lot
I’ve been playing handheld on switch lately
ETA: play with a bow

I'm years behind in gaming, as usual. I just got Skyrim, its fun. My problem is I keep getting my ass handed to me in combat. If i get more than one opponent, I'm usually a dead man.

You can lower the dificulty. Also, you can make a better character. Are you fighting with your bare hands? Weak. That's a brewergeorge move. "My lightweight slap-gnome will be unstoppable at level 40!" DOA. Build out an imperial and get behind a shield. Also found that bows are a huge help in softening up engagements. Some range and some sneak mode.
Magic is for the george.

Play as a stealthy archer - pick them off at a distance.

Screw that fistfighting crap. I've tried swords, daggers, and the bows. I am a Nord Warrior, damn you! I am slowly learning how to use the 'magic' aspect of it. I just got my first shout. My problem, one of many, is that i get stuck and get frustrated. I switch back and forth between this and Fallout 4. Im no better at that.
