Just transfer a batch from the Speidel. When quick with the valve and it was a breeze to clean. I know I won't get rid of all my carboys, one was my grandfathers, but will be letting some go. (I think I have 8)

I make cyser occasionally, so can't see getting rid of mine. I let it sit in primary at least a year. Once my next keg of beer kicks I need to keg one that's been sitting for I think three years. Then I can get another batch going this fall.
They are great for bulk aging wine mead cider etc.

For not regular use I could see using glass for this kind of thing though. I'd just be super careful.

looking at my notes I started fermenting on 10/22/11, racked on 2/17/12, kegged on 7/1/12. So almost 9 months of better bottle time I guess.
my most recent cider went from start to keg in about 6 months. I'm not sure how I decide when to rack and keg

I’ve got some better bottles too. I’ve been trying to sell my glass for a while, seems like no one wants them
I sold some of my glass a while back. I asked the guy what he was brewing and turns out he wasn't a brewer at all. He was going to use them to make sealed terrariums. I still have some 6 and 6.5 gallon carboys left and one of these days I might try and do the same with them.

do you ever need to clean a terrarium out and then put the stuff back in?

Nice. I have a Scottish Ale in mine now that I plan on kegging this week.
