Is anybody up for a challenge to eat only homemade items for all of August?

Everything you eat would have to enter your gome as raw materials.

Exceptions are things that would take longer than a single month to arrange: sauces and pickles plus frozen, unseasoned vegetables. And peanut butter is exempt.

Otherwise, I'm talking baking your own bread, frying your own chips, etc. Nothing frozen besides veg. Nothing prepared at all.

Anybody want to try a month?

LOL, I almost do this all the time except for bread type products, pasta and occasionally canned beans.  these are items that just don't make sense to make yourself all the time unless you don't have a job.  if the goal is to just straight up avoid this kind of stuff that's different.

I think this how I live.  I buy yogurt, cottage cheese, make kefir and cheese.  I don't have the time to make cottage cheese right now.  I buy chocolate, but that's medicinal and not optional or something I can make.  I do buy already sprouted sunflower and pumpkin seeds.  No reason to do that myself if I don't have to.  I sprouted the pecans and cashews.

I make at least 90% of my meals. Sometimes you just need takeout for your sanity.

These days we are probably making less than 10% of our meals from ingredients and about 90% is prepackaged foods. There's just no way.

That' the concept of whole 30.  I started another round of that last week.  Actually self-committed to doing 60 days of it.

100% of our dinners are from raw ingredients, but ain't nobody got time to do everything from scratch these days.

15ish years ago we kicked around the idea of doing a year of eating only what we produced on the farm, with only salt and spices imported.  We were really really close, but that last 5-10% is hard.

This doesn’t seem that bad, but there would need to be a list of exempted items. I mean, I’m not making cheese or butter. Or pressing olive oil. I assume all condiments are exempt from the description.

We come pretty close, for the most part, just with our regular habits. The occasional bag of chips or some cereal for the kids or whatnot. Not willing to make it an actual thing, though. Maybe back in April. Maybe this winter.

We cook 90%+ of our meals at home, mostly starting with raw ingredients but also a good bit of canned stuff.  There are a few more-processed things like tater tots, but you can have those when you pry them from my cold greasy fingers.    The kids (17 and 14) also eat more processed crap, but they can get away with it.  This is homemade enough for me.

We were really really close, but that last 10" is hard, tho.
