When I was in Air Force tech school in San Antonio, TX, one night a group of us decided on the spur of the moment to go to a concert. Foghat was in town, so we set out to go see Foghat.

Well, we ended up at the wrong auditorium! We were at the Convention Center Arena and Foghat was at Municipal Auditorium. And we wouldn't have been able to get to the other one in time before the concert started. So, we decided to just see the show at the Arena instead:

Charlie Daniels and Eric Clapton. This was November 12, 1976. Ticket price was $6.

Was a great show (far better than Foghat!) and I'm not even a country fan.

Damn. A friend of mine’s grandfather has a farm next to Charlie. You could find all those local old codgers at the general Store every morning drinking coffee and shooting the breeze. It’s been a few years since I talked to the friend but I bet if Charlie was healthy enough to go he was there.

Caught one of his shows about seven years ago or so. He would take every third or fourth song off and didn't look too good then. Still sounded good though. RIP
