Ok... time for a new printer... the old one sucks, it’s constantly having print head, ink, and non existent paper jam errors... it’s an HP all in one with print, fax, scan, and photo printing capabilities... Recommendations?

Color laser. Dell makes nice ones. I have an older model (2155cn) and it's awesome.

Basic documents, color laser. Brother makes really robust models.

Printing photos and such: Epson makes really good printers that are (somewhat) cheap to own and use.

Well, what do you use it for? Most people would have their needs meet with a B&W laser printer and having photos or rare thing that needs to be color professionally printed.

Some sort of B&W laser is your best bet.

The decision is how important is photos. If important get inkjet if not get laser. We have 2 printers

For photos we have a canon 6820 ink jet. It can handle 13x19 photos. You can find them for less than $200. But it is just a printer.no scanner or copier. It is probably the cheapest option in 13x19. But to get all in one features you are spending more or smaller paper size. The inkjet also does transfers, vinyl etc. Laser doesn't handle a lot of other material

We also have a hp color laser jet m477. Scanner, printer, fax, copier etc. We ended up with that when my wife was in school for her PhD. It is are main paper printer but we don't use it too much anymore.

If you only need it for one off printing you can get an all in one inkjet for less than $100. Search to see how cheap the ink is, knowing you can get cheap 3rd party for common cartridges. But the cheap ones get the fake paper jams etc. Once they start going bad treat them as disposable

I just looked up my wife's printer... It appears to be a $600 printer. Looks like overkill for home use. But we have never had a issue with it

This.

If you MUST have a color option, get the cheapest, refurbed inkjet you can find and feed it with off brand ink until it stops working the get another.

If you want to print photos, buy a nice Epson dye (not pigment) printer like the Stylus Pro 3880 or PictureMate 400.

Color inkjets w/scanners are damn near disposable these days. They cost only a little more than a set of refill cartridges! A scanner (which used to be a pretty high-ticket item) is now thrown in as a free bonus!

If you don't need color get a black & white laser printer.

If you want color occasionally and don't care about photo quality, get a color laser printer.

I have a cheap Canon all-in-one scanner/printer. I think I paid less than $50 for it at WalMart. Wife occasionally prints photos or greeting cards. I use the scanner a lot. Doubles as a copier for quick copies. I usually just get the cheapest Epson or Canon I can find.

I also have a cheap Brother color laser printer. I paid under $200 for it. It does duplex printing (prints on both sides) which is a really nice feature! I bought it mainly to print beer labels that don't run when they get wet! Computer graphics (charts, graphs, drawings, color text) come out OK... But it's decidedly NOT a good photo printer.

I've had good luck shopping for good prices on laser printers at CDW.com.

If I were going to buy right now, I'd look at this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QBR7JFV/
