I have a quarter sized rusted hole in my mower deck that I'm planning to fill with JB steel putty.

Do I plug the hole then use the rust converter or vise versa?

Why not grind it to bare metal then either get someone to weld a proper patch on or use the job weld then I suppose rust converter after at least a good wire brushing followed by paint

Welding isn't in the cards. This is a 10 year old push mower. I'm just trying to keep it going another couple years until we move into our condo.

I had to do something to stop my wife from spending $300 on a new one. So I spent $80 on parts including a new mulching plug, blade and front axle (so the front height adjuster will work). It was only once I disassembled it and power washed it did I even know the hike was there. I found some body cracks near the front wheels while prepping, too. All fixable with JB.

Gorilla tape

That’s not a bad idea

What’s the going rate to just have a neighbor kid mow it for you?
