Are y'all getting them from breeders? The shelters are all shut down here.

from a breeder. I have never been a must have a pure breed and we don't care about papers.

But after getting are first Labrador and 2nd we will be hard pressed to get a different breed. The first one was an adult rescue, the 2nd a back yard breeder this one is coming from farm breeder that has been doing this for 20 years

Yesterday we picked up the yellow. 15lbs at 8 weeks. For comparison the chocolate was 9lbs at 8 weeks. He looks more English than American

Most gun dogs are easy to train, good with other dogs and people and want to please their owners.

The lab preference is in part to availability. Labs are plentiful and easy to obtain and other that the link that volfan posted affordable.

An English pointer is another breed that I like but less common

Both are good looking pups.

Yeah there's no way I'd give 3k+ for a dog unless I was trying to get in the breeding business.

We bought a new house back in December and I told Mrs. Seagis that the first thing we're moving into the house was a dog. So we signed the paperwork for the house and went to the Lynchburg shelter (about an hour away) and brought 4-year-old Olive home.

You mean ours? I think so. Best we can tell is a GS/Hound mix of some sort.

Dogs are really interesting with how they deal with puppies. Our dogs like the "wrestle" the older 2 will go at. But they take it easy on the puppy but still include him. They seem to understand he is a baby

It was a trip when we got our pit mix puppy. The chihuaha was already a few years old and the pit was 3x his size yet somehow immediately he seemed to recognize she was a puppy and she seemed to accept his authority.

So TPW has been wanting a silver lab puppy for a while now. A breeder she's been talking to just announced some puppies and she put down a deposit. We're getting a silver lab female in 8 weeks.

No, the way I understand it is all dogs have the genes for black, brown, yellow/gold, white, and such natural colors with variations darker and lighter. Silver is a recessive gene in labs and is a product of 2 chocolate labs. They are pure bred labradors. I have a silver male that we adopted a few years ago.
