I'm not sure what enforcement options the government's have, but this is a terrible idea. All the jails and prisons across the nation are in a panic. My facility only has 2 negative air flow cells for males and one for females. We can't get enough cleaning supplies. Everything is on back order. Once it gets inside, it will spread like wildfire among staff and prisoners alike. Soon there won't be enough staff to run the facilities and then you're proper ####ed.
Although we're doing everything we can at my facility to isolate and clean, I've pretty much accepted the fact that I will get it. Only a matter of time. But hey, it is the job I signed up for. Nurses, doctors and fire rescue aren't backing down. I'll be damned if I will either.
Hawaii Gov. David Ige has ordered all state residents except for essential workers to remain at home for over a month due to the coronavirus pandemic — and is threatening jail time for anyone who disobeys.
People who go outside for reasons other than health care, food, picking up education materials, taking care of others, or exercise between March 25 and April 30 can be charged with a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
